MANILA, Philippines — Lawmakers have welcomed the latest Social Weather Stations (SWS) survey results showing that 41 percent of Filipinos support the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte, claiming it indicates that more people seek accountability for the alleged misuse of millions in confidential funds.

The survey, conducted from December 12 to 18 last year with 2,160 respondents nationwide, showed that 41 percent of Filipinos support the vice president’s impeachment, while 35 percent oppose it and 19 percent remain undecided.

“Ipinapakita ng survey na ang karamihan sa ating mga kababayan ay naghahangad ng pananagutan mula sa ating mga lider. Dapat nang ipaliwanag at linawin ni VP Duterte kung saan napunta at paano ginamit ang daang milyong confidential funds ng kanyang tanggapan,”  House Senior Deputy Speaker Aurelio “Dong” Gonzales said in a statement on Sunday.

Furthermore, Tingog Partylist Representative Jude Acidre said that Filipinos are “obviously fed up” and “tired of the same old Duterte-style politics,” which he described as “a culture of impunity, bullying tactics, and decisions that prioritize power over public service.”

“Either we stand by the wayside and allow this type of politics to continue, or we take a firm stand to hold the Dutertes accountable. The choice is ours—our silence enables impunity, but our courage can spark change,” Acidre said in a separate statement.

“This isn’t just about one person or one family. It’s about a shift in our collective consciousness as a nation. Filipinos want leaders who will govern with integrity, compassion, and a clear vision for the future—not leaders who thrive on impunity and entitlement,” he added.
