Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has asked his key ally Congress to dismiss their allegations against EVM tampering. The National Conference leader's statements mark another rift within the INDIA bloc.

Earlier this week, INDIA bloc allies called on Rahul Gandhi to step down as leadership and pushed for TMC supremo and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to take over.

Abdullah's statements mark another rift within the opposition alliance. Speaking to news agency PTI, the J&K Chief Minister urged Congress to accept the poll results instead of alleging EVM tampering.

"When you get a hundred plus members of Parliament using the same EVMs, and you celebrate that as sort of a victory for your party, you can't then a few months later turn around and say... we don't like these EVMs because now the election results aren't going the way we would like them to," said Abdullah.

"If you have problems with the EVMs, then you should be consistent in those problems," the NC leader added in response to Congress' queries regarding the EVMs.

Abdullah's comments come amid the National Conference's unhappiness with Congress as its ally. As per reports, many NC leaders believe that Congress did not do its bit when campaigning during the Jammu and Kashmir assembly elections in September.

As per Omar Abdullah, parties should not use EVMs as an excuse for defeat.

"One day voters choose you, the next day they don't," he said, citing is own example of facing defeat in Lok Sabha polls while winning a majority in the September assembly polls.

PR Sreejesh also said that he will continue to contribute to the sport and strive to help the country become a hockey superpower.

Congress Alleges EVM Tampering

After its loss in the Haryana and Maharashtra Assembly polls, the Congress has expressed doubts regarding the EVM’s infallibility and the outcome of the assembly elections.

The grand old party has demanded a return to the paper ballot for the upcoming elections.lucky cola
